Genetic variation in Luman/CREB3 and association with stress and meat quality traits in Yorkshire pigs

نویسندگان

چکیده

LUMAN/CREB3 is a stress regulatory gene that affects activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in mice and presents promising avenue for exploring variable stress-responsiveness pigs. Pigs with similar characteristics to LUMAN-deficient mice, including greater resilience receptivity human handling, would be valuable pork industry from animal welfare production efficiency perspectives. We previously identified eight genetic variations five haplotypes throughout LUMAN locus Yorkshire In this study we analysed associations between behavioural response during three tests (open field test, novel object approach test), physiological (cortisol), carcass/meat quality measurements purebred Haplotypes A1 A2 were associated decreased levels environments plasma cortisol concentrations at slaughter. Haplotype was lower carcass scratch scores meat cooking losses tenderness. B1 B2 opposite traits increased losses, marbling, paler coloured meat. conclude DNA could potentially used as markers resistance pig breeding.

Association of RYR1 and MYOG Genotype with Carcass and Meat Quality Traits in Grower-finisher Pigs

The study involved 110 hybrid grower-finisher pigs from Polish Large White × Polish Landrace sows sired by Pietrain breed boars and their crossbreds with the 990 line and Duroc. The aim of the study was to determine an association of the polymorphism of RYR1, myogenin (MYOG) genes and carcass meatiness level with carcass slaughter value and meat quality traits in hybrid pigs. Better meat qualit...

Association of the polymorphism in GYS1 and ACOX1 genes with meat quality traits in pigs.

Phenotypic information about several pig meat quality traits on 334 Large White × Meishan F2 pigs was collected. Effects of the association of the FokI variants in the seventh intron of the skeletal muscle glycogen synthase (GYS1) gene and the PstI variants in the ninth intron of the palmitoyl acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1) gene on the meat quality traits were examined on all pigs. The FokI variant...
